A former Ghanaian Trade and Industry Minister and ex-Member of Parliament, K.T. Hammond, has claimed will suffer after 2028 if they fail to elect former Vice President, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, as President of Ghana in the December 7, 2028 presidential election.
He made this known while speaking at Dr. Bawumia’s campaign tour in the Ashanti Region on Wednesday, September 10, 2025.
According to him, Dr. Bawumia – who is campaigning to once again lead the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the 2028 general elections – is competent enough to better manage the affairs of Ghana.
He said it was “madness” for some people to suggest that Dr. Bawumia cannot be President of Ghana because he’s a Muslim.
The former MP of Adansi Asokwa says “Have you monitored Bawumia’s capabilities and hard work? It’s madness to say Bawumia is a Muslim, so he can’t be a President. We will suffer if Bawumia is not elected as President”, urging Ghanaians to focus on competence and commitment rather than religious differences in electing the next President of Ghana.
