George Weah

President of world football governing body, Gianni Infantino, has appointed former Liberian President and Ballon d’Or winner, George Weah, to lead FIFA Players’ Voices Panel on Racism.

In his acceptance statement, Weah, who played for AC Milan, PSG, Monaco and Chelsea during his illustrious football career, thanked Infantino for appointing him to the “all-important” panel on racism.

He recounted his own experiences with racism as a footballer, lamenting that racism in soccer is “profoundly damaging.”

He expressed his commitment to serving on the panel, saying “I have always been committed to serving FIFA in various roles, including as a member of the FIFA Football Committee and I will continue to do now with unwavering dedication.”

He added that “To my fellow distinguished panelists, it is a proud moment working with all of you as together, we strive to kick racism out of the beautiful game, for the good of the game, and for humanity.”
