Nigerian street-hop star Portable is once again making headlines—this time by publicly demanding additional compensation from fellow singer Ric Hassani for their joint track 4x2x16, which has been gaining traction since its release.
In a series of viral social media videos, the Zeh Nation boss expressed frustration that his manager handled the original agreement without foreseeing the song’s success. Now, with the track performing well on streaming platforms, Portable insists he deserves an extra ₦5 million and a batch of Canadian loud—a slang term for high-grade cannabis—as recognition for his contribution.
Portable argued that his verse played a key role in the song’s virality, comparing the situation to his more celebrated collaboration with UK rapper Skepta, who he claimed called him personally to express gratitude and admiration.
In his fiery rants, Portable warned Ric Hassani not to “downplay his value” or act as though his input wasn’t instrumental in the song’s popularity.
The demand has sparked heated debate online. While some fans criticized Portable’s approach as unprofessional and opportunistic, others blamed Ric Hassani for partnering with an artist known for controversial antics and unpredictable behavior.
Regardless of the controversy, 4x2x16 continues to climb charts, with listeners intrigued by the clash of styles—and now, the clash of egos—between the two artists. Whether this dispute will impact the song’s momentum or lead to a deeper fallout remains to be seen, but one thing is clear: Portable knows how to stay in the headlines.
