Drivers, Guards And Civilians Killed In Attack On UN Aid Trucks In Sudan

Attack on United Nations (UN) trucks transporting aid to Darfur in Sudan have reportedly resulted in killings of drivers and civilians. 

 

A spokesperson for the United Nations confirmed the attack on the aid trucks with initial reports of “multiple casualties.”

 

The attack took place in the two of el-Koma on Monday night, June 2, 2025.

 

According to the Sudanese government, “guards, drivers and civilians” had been killed in the attack.

 

The government blamed the attack on the Rapid Support Forces (RSF), a paramilitary group fighting the Sudanese army.

 

The RSF has however, placed blame on the Sudanese army for the attack.

 

According to the United Nations, the convoy was attacked while waiting to leave for el-Fasher, a city which is under attack and where there are reported famine conditions.

 

The Sudanese army are in control of el-Fasher with civilians and soldiers in the city which is in North Darfur being under attack for more than a year.

 

According to RSF spikes, Basha Tabiq in a post on X, four members of the UN convoy traveling to el-Fasher Monday night were killed. Two other persons were injured, he said.

 

The Sudan war started in 2023, creating one of the world’s worst humanitarian crisis so far.

 

A spokesperson for the UN refugee agency, Eujin Byun, says on Tuesday, June 3, 2025, that over four million people have fled Sudan since the start of the war.
