Beware of Scams: Ghana National Fire Service Warns Public Against Fake Recruitment Exercise

The Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) has issued a warning to the public about a fraudulent recruitment notice circulating on social media platforms. According to the Service, the notice is a scam intended to defraud unsuspecting individuals.

GNFS Not Recruiting

In a press release dated May 23, 2025, the GNFS emphasized that it is not currently conducting any recruitment exercise and urged Ghanaians to disregard any contrary information. The Service stated that any legitimate recruitment exercise will only take place after obtaining clearance from the government.

Official Channels

The GNFS assured the public that official announcements will be made through national newspapers, the Service’s official website (www.gnfs.gov.gh), and verified social media platforms (@gnfsofficial). The public is advised to verify any recruitment-related information by contacting the GNFS directly via 0302772446.

Warning Against Scams

The Service warned citizens to remain vigilant, highlighting that these fake notices are the work of miscreants attempting to defraud unsuspecting individuals. GNFS reiterated its commitment to transparency and professionalism, especially in its recruitment processes. Members of the public are encouraged to report any suspicious recruitment activity to law enforcement authorities for swift action.

Previous Scams

This is not the first time the GNFS has warned the public about recruitment scams. In February 2024, the Service cautioned against a fraudulent recruitment exercise on a fake Facebook account. Similarly, in 2022, the GNFS warned prospective recruits against making payments to third parties for recruitment purposes.

Protecting the Public

The GNFS is committed to protecting the public from these scams. The Service encourages individuals to be cautious and refrain from making any payments or purchasing e-vouchers in response to fake recruitment notices. By working together, the public can avoid falling victim to these scams.

Staying Informed

To stay informed about legitimate recruitment exercises, the public can follow the GNFS on its official website and verified social media platforms. The Service will announce any recruitment exercises through these channels, providing clear eligibility criteria and application procedures.
