Residents in several parts of Johannesburg, South Africa, will experience low water pressure or no water at all for two weeks in May.
This is as a result of Rand Water’s planned maintenance at the Palmiet Pump Station which is expected to take place from May 2nd to May 16th.
The planned maintenance is due to impact several areas, including Sandton, Alexandra, South Hills, Midrand, and Linksfield.
Be Prepared
Johannesburg Water spokesperson Nombuso Shabalala advised residents to prepare for the disruption. “Johannesburg Water will make arrangements for an alternative water supply. However, residents are encouraged to store water in preparation for the maintenance.” This will help minimize the impact of the water disruption.
Recovery on the Horizon
Shabalala adds that full recovery of the systems will take several days after Rand Water completes the maintenance. So, while it’s not going to be a walk in the park, it’s not forever either.
Areas Affected
The maintenance work will affect the following Johannesburg Water systems:
– Sandton
– Alexandra
– South Hills
– Midrand
– Linksfield
Stay Ahead
Residents are urged to stay informed and plan ahead. Store water, make necessary arrangements, and you’ll be good to go.
