Selena Marie Gomez and Rema
American singer, Selena Marie Gomez, has been named the International Artiste of The Year, thanks to her collaboration with Nigerian superstar, Rema, on the remix of his super-hit song, ‘Calm Down‘.
She won the coveted award over the weekend at the 16th edition of the Headies Awards.
Selena Gomez was featured on the ‘Calm Down’ remix in 2022, and the song has since become a global hit, being certified gold and platinum in a number of countries including the US.
Calm Down has also received several nominations including MTV Video Music Award for Best Collaboration.
And the song’s success has partly contributed to Selena winning big at the Headies this year.
The Headies – Africa’s global award for Afrobeats Music – was held on September 3, 2023 at the Cobb Energy Centre, Atlanta, USA.
The star-studded ceremony will witnessed live performances from some of Africa’s popular Afrobeats singers.
Performing at the ceremony were: Fireboy, KCEE, Asake, Ayra Starr, Rema, Spyro, Victony and Seyi Vibez, among others.
