Kwaku Benson and W9anted Debut with ‘Genesis of a Trapper’ EP: A Bold Fusion of Ghanaian Roots and Global Sounds

Belgium-based Ghanaian duo Kwaku Benson and W9anted kicked off 2025 with an exclusive private listening session for their debut EP, Genesis of a Trapper (G.O.A.T), on January 2. The intimate event, attended by close friends, industry professionals, and music lovers, introduced the world to the duo’s groundbreaking sound—a vibrant blend of Ghanaian musical heritage and global influences.

The six-track EP is an exploration of identity, weaving together diverse genres and themes. Tracks like “Airplay Mode” deliver rhythmic energy, while “On My Way” offers an introspective Hip-Hop prayer. The pulsating sounds of Asakaa Drill dominate “Trapper” and “Bando Baby”, showcasing the duo’s ties to Ghana’s thriving Drill scene. Meanwhile, “Issues” blends Hiplife and trap, channeling the raw emotions of heartbreak through melodic storytelling.

In an exclusive with Revolve Muzic, Kwaku Benson revealed the personal inspiration behind the project. “This is a reflection of our journey and a homage to our roots,” he shared. “We’ve spent years refining our sound, and now we’re ready to connect with the world, sharing our identity and culture through music.”

W9anted echoed similar sentiments, emphasizing the importance of bridging their Ghanaian heritage with their experiences abroad. “Even though we’ve been away, this EP reconnects us with our people and tells our shared story through authentic Ghanaian sounds,” he added.

Genesis of a Trapper is more than an EP—it’s a cultural bridge and an invitation to embrace a soundscape that’s innovative yet rooted in tradition. With this debut, Kwaku Benson and W9anted aim to carve a unique space in the global music scene, celebrating their Ghanaian identity while breaking new creative ground.
