Christabel Derby Receives Honorary Doctorate for Global Impact in Youth Empowerment and Gender Advocacy

Ghanaian youth leader and gender advocate Christabel Queensley Derby Donkor has been awarded an Honorary Doctor of Letters (Hon. D.Litt.) by the American Bible University for her exceptional contributions to youth empowerment, gender advocacy, and public policy. The ceremony, held on December 14, 2024, celebrated her transformational impact on both local and global communities.

 

Born on November 22, 1995, in Huni Valley, Christabel has broken barriers throughout her career. She became the first African and female Vice Chairperson for Inclusion and Engagement on the Commonwealth Youth Council, serving from 2021 to 2024. Her tenure was marked by groundbreaking initiatives that promoted inclusivity, diversity, and opportunity for young people across the globe.

 

As the founder of Derby’s Foundation Ghana, Christabel has championed programs that empower youth with the skills and resources to advocate for their rights and drive positive change. Her work with the Ghana High Commission in London and various international organizations has further cemented her reputation as a bridge-builder and policy influencer.
