Ghanaian rapper Edwin Kwame Ohene Darko, better known by the stage name Pope Skinny, has come to the defense of his former associate, Reggae/Dancehall icon Shatta Wale, stating that the musician is often misunderstood.
During a candid interview with Nana Romeo on Accra 100.5 FM’s Ayekoo Ayekooprogram, the ‘Hot Cake’ hitmaker shared that Shatta Wale is often painted as a villain simply because of his outspoken nature. He futher clarified that Shatta Wale only reacts when provoked.
“I learned confidence from Shatta Wale,” Pope Skinny revealed, adding that the Dancehall star also taught him how to manage his finances effectively.
“Shatta Wale saves a lot of money,” he noted.

Addressing rumors that the ‘Melissa’ singer bought him a Mercedes Benz, Pope Skinny debunked the claims, explaining that while Shatta Wale announced a new Benz in the family, he never said he purchased it for him.
Reflecting on their past, Pope Skinny admitted, “I miss him every day. He’s our guy,” expressing regret over how their relationship deteriorated. Despite their fallout, he acknowledged the positive impact Shatta Wale had on his life, especially in terms of financial prudence and self-confidence.
