Arsenal have defeated Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) in their Champions League encounter at the Emirates Stadium in England.
The Premier League club won the reigning French Champions 2-0 on Tuesday night, October 1, 2024.
Both goals were scored by German international, Kai Havertz and England winger, Bukayo Saka, both in the first half.
Havertz headed in the opener for the Gooners in the 20th minute, thanks to Belgian Leandro Trossard’s perfect cross. Then, Saka sealed the victory with a free-kick at 35 minutes, catching PSG’s goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma off guard.
Mikel Arteta’s side had a solid game, with notable performances from David Raya, Jurrien Timber, and William Saliba. The win propels Arsenal into the top eight spots in the league phase table, while PSG slips to 18th. The match also marked the debut of Mikel Merino, who joined the team after recovering from a fractured shoulder.
