King of Tɛma: A bold new chapter in Ghanaian filmmaking

Anibok Studios and Organised Khaoz have officially teamed up to produce King of Tɛma, a groundbreaking feature film set to reshape the landscape of independent filmmaking in Ghana.

The collaboration brings together two innovative studios, harnessing limited resources to craft a compelling story while inviting the community to join in on the journey.

King of Tɛma follows the intense and emotional journey of a young man struggling to navigate life in the bustling city of Tema.

Facing harsh realities and being forced into tough decisions, his mission to save his ailing mother becomes a tale of survival, betrayal, and ultimate redemption.

Directed by Kobina de Graft-Johnson of Anibok Studios, the film provides an unfiltered, authentic glimpse into the raw challenges of life, all set against the vibrant backdrop of Ghanaian culture.

“We’re not waiting for investors or perfect conditions. With our own resources and a passion to tell this story, we’re pushing forward,” says de Graft-Johnson, the Producer and Director of the film.

“This is about pulling ourselves up by our bootstraps and making it happen, no matter the odds.”

Mark Cofie Jr, Founder of Organised Khaoz and Co-Producer, echoed this sentiment: “We are proving that with collaboration and determination, we can push the boundaries of what’s possible in Ghanaian filmmaking. King of Tɛma is not just a film; it’s the beginning of a movement.”

A New Wave of Collaboration in Ghanaian Film

In a landscape where many projects stall while waiting for government funding or external investors, Anibok Studios and Organised Khaoz are redefining what’s possible with creativity, collaboration, and resourcefulness.

Together, they’re setting a new standard for independent filmmaking in Ghana.

The production team hopes this bold partnership will inspire others in the industry to push forward with their creative visions, without waiting for external validation or support.

Community-Centered Filmmaking

More than just a film, King of Tɛma is rooted in the heart of the Ghanaian community. With an impressive cast and crew of local talent, the production will showcase the country’s culture and landscapes, offering a truly authentic experience.

“We want to bring our culture to the forefront of cinema, not just for Ghana but for audiences around the world,” de Graft-Johnson explained.

“Our goal is to create a platform where Ghanaian filmmakers can collaborate, innovate, and tell stories that resonate globally.”

Support the Journey

As the production moves closer to its start date, Anibok Studios and Organised Khaoz are calling on the community and international supporters to help bring the passion project to life.

The filmmakers are launching a GoFundMe campaign, inviting contributions from around the world.
