Police in France have arrested and detained more than 416 arrested people after violent clashes erupted across the country following PSG’s Champions League victory over Arsenal.
France Ministry of interior announced the arrests on Sunday, May 31, 2026.
PSG defeated Arsenal 4 – 3 in the penalty shootouts in the Hungarian capital, Budapest on Saturday evening, May 30.
The clashes erupted when thousands of people poured onto the streets across France.
The ministry says 283 people were arrested in Paris alone.
At least 22,000 police officers were deployed nationwide in France for the Champions League final. About 8,000 of those officers were deployed in Paris alone.
France’s Interior Minister, Laurent Nunez, says seven police officers have been wounded, calling the unrest “absolutely unacceptable.”
Reports say at least seven cars and two businesses were damaged during the unrest last night.
