By Richard Onapatum

In a bold move, Resident District Commissioner (RDC) Charles Ichogor has unveiled an ambitious vision to transform Kotido into a model district in the region, where others can come to benchmark. The vision, which has been hailed as a game-changer for the district, aims to make Kotido synonymous with excellence in governance, economic development, and social progress.

“The time has come for Kotido to take its rightful place as a leader in the region,” RDC Ichogor declared while giving closing comments at a disaster preparedness meeting implemented by Nakere Rural Women Activists (NARWOA) at Toto Maria in Kotido. “We must work together to achieve this vision, and I am committed to doing my part.”

RDC Ichogor emphasized the dangers of cutting down the desert tree for charcoal burning, highlighting its importance in providing leaves for food, bark for medicine, and other essential benefits. “We must preserve this tree, it’s a treasure for our community and our environment,” he stressed. “By protecting our natural resources, we can ensure a sustainable future for generations to come.”

The Executive Director of NARWOA, Jessica Ruth Ataa, thanked the RDC for accepting the invitation to the meeting and pledged to work closely with the office of the RDC to transform the region. “We are committed to supporting your vision, RDC Ichogor, and working together to achieve sustainable development in Kotido,” she said. “By empowering rural women and promoting gender equality, we can unlock the full potential of our community.”

RDC Ichogor’s vision is built on a foundation of transparency and accountability, with a focus on ensuring that government programs are effective and efficient. “We must work together to ensure that our resources are used wisely and for the benefit of all,” he emphasized. “By promoting innovation and entrepreneurship, we can create new opportunities for economic growth and development.”

In addition to economic development, RDC Ichogor is also committed to improving access to quality education and healthcare services. “Our children deserve the best education possible, and our citizens deserve access to quality healthcare,” he said. “By investing in our human capital, we can build a brighter future for Kotido.”

With the RDC’s vision and the commitment of organizations like NARWOA, Kotido is poised to become a beacon of hope and inspiration for other districts in the region, showcasing what can be achieved through visionary leadership, collaboration, and a commitment to excellence. As RDC Ichogor noted, “Together, we can achieve greatness and make Kotido a model for sustainable development.”
