Megan Thee Stallion Heats Up 2025 with “Whenever” and Afrobeats Stars Shine at AMAs

HOUSTON — Three-time Grammy winner Megan Thee Stallion launched 2025 with a blaze, dropping her fiery single “Whenever” on April 25 via Hot Girl Productions. Produced by Bankroll Got It and sampling Ms. Cherry’s “It’s Whatever,” the track marks her first release of the year. Megan teased the song on April 19 before her show-stopping Coachella set, where she brought out Queen Latifah, Ciara, and Victoria Monét, leaving fans in a frenzy.

The Houston star’s momentum continues beyond music. In May, she’ll be honored at the Gold House Gold Gala for championing Asian Pacific culture through her work in music, fashion, and film. A trailblazer for diverse voices, Megan’s collaborations range from global pop stars to niche creatives. She also debuted her tequila brand, Chicas Divertidas, offering premium Blanco and Reposado varieties now available online.

The music world buzzed with parallel energy on April 25. Afrobeats sensation Ayra Starr and Wizkid released their sizzling single “Gimme Dat,” while Wizkid, Rema, Tems, and Asake earned nominations for Favorite Afrobeats Artist at the 51st American Music Awards, set for May 26 in Las Vegas. Meanwhile, Migos’ Quavo doubled down on his Hollywood ambitions, starring in High Rollers with John Travolta and aiming to outshine hip-hop-turned-actors like Will Smith and Ice Cube.

Adding to the global soundscape, Los Angeles–based artist Monsieur Belange dropped “Jack in the Box” on the same day via DistroKid. Inspired by a 2022 moment at a California Jack in the Box, the soulful hip-hop track, available on Spotify, Apple Music, and YouTube, captures the immigrant hustle with ’90s flair.
