Dr. Abdul-Rashid Pelpuo, the Minister Designate for Labor, Jobs, and Employment, has expressed his commitment to supporting any directive that increases the allowances of national service personnel. This announcement comes as a welcome relief to many national service personnel who have been advocating for a hike in their allowances due to the high cost of living.

The National Service Scheme has been facing challenges in paying allowances to personnel on time. In a recent update, the Executive Director of the Scheme, Osei Assibey Antwi, assured personnel that their allowances for September 2023 had been released and were being processed for payment .

The demand for an increment in allowances has been a long-standing concern for national service personnel. The Coalition of Suffering National Service Personnel even organized a demonstration to air their grievances and push for a change .

Dr. Pelpuo’s statement is a positive step towards addressing the concerns of national service personnel. An increase in allowances would not only improve their financial situation but also motivate them to serve their country with dedication and enthusiasm.
