Ahmed Refaat
Egyptian footballer, Ahmed Refaat, has died from heart attack at the age of 31.
Refaat, who represented Egypt at the international level and was team-mate to Liverpool’s Mohammed Salah at the national team level, passed away on Saturday, July 6, 2024, after collapsing on field during an Egypt Premier League game between Modern Future and Al Ittihad Alexandria.
During the match while playing for Modern Future, Refaat suddenly fell to the ground and was rushed to the hospital.
Refaat was subsequently placed in intensive care at the hospital and discharged a month later.
But he passed away on Saturday despite being fitted with pacemaker.
Refaat represented Egypt in the 2021 FIFA Arab Cup.
He scored two goals in seven senior appearances for Egypt between 2013 and 2022.
