Dead bodies have reportedly been seen on streets in Kenya as police clashed with thousands of citizens who are protesting over a tax hike.

Reports say Kenyan police have been firing live rounds at demonstrators in the capital, Nairobi on Tuesday, June 25, 2024.

The controversial finance bill has spiked widespread protests across Kenya after opposition Leader, Raila Odinga, called on citizens to reject the bill.

Protesters made their way to the Kenyan Parliament on Tuesday, forcing police officers to evacuate lawmakers.

Local media reports say the ceremonial mace of the Kenyan Parliament was stolen.

According to NTV Kenya, lawmakers who were at the Parliament building escaped through an underground channel.

Former US President, Barack Obama’s sister was teargassed on Tuesday while she was live on air speaking to CNN to register her protest over the bill.
