Dodowa, Ghana – Leading microinsurance company aYo Ghana joined forces with the Lions Club, DrugNet, and SoftLife to bring a season of giving to the residents of Dodowa this Christmas. Over 300 people, both young and old, gathered at the Dodowa Presbyterian School Park to receive food, clothing, medicines, and free health screenings.
aYo Ghana provided hot meals and drinks, while DrugNet donated medicines worth over GHS40,000. SoftLife conducted health screenings, including blood pressure, blood sugar, and temperature checks, with medical advice for those in need. The Lions Club contributed used clothing and shoes.
Lion Dr. Helena Asamoah-Hassan, District Governor of District 418 – Ghana for Lions Club International, explained that the focus for December is combating hunger, especially during the dry season. The event provided an opportunity to address multiple needs by incorporating health screenings and clothing donations.
This initiative is part of a larger effort by the Lions Club to provide humanitarian assistance throughout the year. Their activities include supporting childhood cancer awareness, vision care, diabetes awareness, and disaster relief. This year alone, the club has provided relief to victims of the Akosombo Dam spillage, renovated a health center, donated books to schools, and provided water boreholes to communities.
In a separate act of generosity, aYo Ghana donated a laptop computer and a projector to the community school at Vume-Kpoviadzi in the Volta Region. CEO of aYo Ghana, Francis Gota, personally presented the items, emphasizing the company’s belief in technology and its potential to empower young people in their education and future careers.
