Saudi Arabia has welcomed the peace agreement reached between the US and Iran on Sunday to end military operations, its foreign ministry says.
According to the Saudi foreign ministry, Saudi Arabia appreciates the mediation efforts undertaken by Pakistan and Qatar as well as Iran and the US’ response to these efforts.
Saudi Arabia underscored the importance of restoring security and the freedom of navigation in the Strait of Hormuz to the conditions that prevailed before the war started.
Saudi Arabia said it hopes that peace will be achieved in a manner that enhances regional and global security.
The Ministry says Saudi Arabia hopes for a lasting agreement that takes into account the security interests of the countries of the region and upholds the principle of respect for states’ internal affairs.
