President John Dramani Mahama, yesterday with Vice President Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang, received the Bono East Regional House of Chiefs led by Nana Owusu Sakyi III, President of the Bono East Regional House of Chiefs, alongside Paramount Chiefs, Queen Mothers and traditional leaders from across the Region.
The delegation, accompanied by the Minister for Local Government, Chieftaincy and Religious Affairs, Hon. Ahmed Ibrahim, and the Bono East Regional Minister, Hon. Francis Owusu Antwi, paid a courtesy call on the President to discuss issues of development and shared national interest affecting the Bono East Region.
During the engagement, the chiefs commended Government for the progress made thus far, while President Mahama reaffirmed Government’s commitment to strengthening the economy and supporting the Region’s strategic role in agriculture, trade and commerce, particularly within Techiman and its surrounding communities.
The President further outlined a number of key interventions earmarked for the Region, including the establishment of special markets under the 24-hour economy initiative, the development of Farmer Service Centres, the construction of a 50,000 tonne cashew processing factory, major road infrastructure projects, and plans towards the establishment of a Regional Hospital for Bono East.
