Ghanaian President, John Dramani Mahama, has commended China’s long-standing support for Africa’s infrastructure development, industralization and vocational training.
President Mahama, in an exclusive interview with China Global Television Network (CGTN), says China continues to play an important role in the modernisation drive of Ghana and other African countries.
Touching on trade, Mahama said trade relations between Ghana and China continues to expand at a steady pace.
He says the volume of bilateral trade between the two countries hit $11.8 billion in 2024, representing over 7% increase over the previous year.
According to him, China remains the largest trading partner of Ghana.
He explained that “$11.8 billion dollars of trade between Ghana and China in 2024 — that is more than 7% annual increase.”
President Mahama said “Actually, China is Ghana’s biggest trading partner, and trade between Ghana and China has continued to grow exponentially. The zero-tariff policy is now kicking in, and I believe it will create a conducive atmosphere for us to grow that trade even more.”
