The Afrobeats scene erupted in excitement on Thursday, December 5, 2025, after superstars Wizkid and Asake officially announced that they are working on a joint project titled Real Vol. 1.
The highly anticipated revelation came during an exclusive takeover on Apple Music Radio, putting an end to weeks of intense speculation among fans and industry observers.
Uniting Global Influence and Street-Pop Sound
The collaboration marks a major moment for contemporary Nigerian music, uniting two of the genre’s biggest forces:
- Wizkid: One of Africa’s most influential global stars, known for his smooth, international Afropop style.
- Asake: One of the genre’s most consistent hitmakers, famed for his distinctive blend of Afrobeats, Amapiano, and street-pop, characterized by his energetic, choir-driven sound.
The duo shared the news while co-hosting the Apple Music show, hinting that this first volume may be part of a larger collaborative series. Although they did not reveal the tracklist or release date, the announcement alone has generated widespread anticipation.
Wizkid and Asake have already proven their chemistry through previous collaborations, including the fan-favorite “MMS” from Asake’s 2024 album. Their upcoming joint project is expected to expand on that synergy, creating a new sound that blends their signature styles.
Real Vol. 1 is already being touted as a cultural milestone and one of the most impactful collaborative projects to come out of the Afrobeats genre in recent years.
