Controversial Nigerian musician Portable has issued a stern and aggressive warning to fans regarding an impersonator who has been allegedly performing his songs and collecting fees for shows without authorization. The artist, known for hits like “Zazuu Zeh,” urged his supporters to take direct physical action against the lookalike if they encounter him.
A Threat to Brand and Income
Portable stressed the critical importance of protecting his brand and reputation, emphasizing the financial damage caused by the unauthorized performances. He stated publicly that he commands a significant fee for his legitimate appearances, claiming he earns “10 million plus” for his shows.
The musician made it clear that he will not tolerate being impersonated for minimal financial gain. This follows the circulation of videos showing a performer resembling Portable, with some shows being credited to the lookalike. Portable’s supporters have argued that the impersonator is not only costing the real artist earnings but is also potentially damaging his reputation.
Call for Direct Action
In a shocking instruction to his fanbase, Portable told them to handle the situation themselves if they encounter the fraudster: “Beat him up yourselves.”
He specifically mentioned that the impersonator might have been paid as little as N250,000 for a show, an amount he believes is far below his actual market worth, which further fuels his outrage.
Portable concluded his message by confirming his commitment to legitimate shows, stating that if he is invited for a proper event, he will attend. However, he promised to take swift and firm action against any further impersonation attempts.
