The Ablekuma West Municipal Assembly has rolled out a monthly clean-up exercise in the municipality to help tackle persistent sanitation challenges in the area.
The initiative is expected to mobilise residents, local authorities, and stakeholders to work together in improving environmental hygiene. As part of the maiden exercise, gutters were desilted and refuse cleared at several locations.
Municipal Chief Executive (MCE), George Kpakpo Allotey, joined residents during the exercise and emphasised the need for community involvement in keeping the municipality clean.
He urged households and businesses to take responsibility for their surroundings and support the campaign.
Municipal officials say the clean-up programme will be sustained and monitored to reduce indiscriminate dumping of waste and ensure healthier living conditions for residents.
