Eight men have been convicted after they pleaded guilty to charges of conspiracy and assault for their involvement in violent attacks during the Ablekuma North parliamentary re-run on July 11, 2025.
The convicts — Mohammed Abubakari, Tijani Mahmudu, Prince Dzakpasu, Anas Mohammed, Mohammed Hamda, Darko Otibu Samuel, Musah Muntari, and Ali Saeed (also known as “Bomba”) — appeared before the Circuit Court in Accra and admitted their roles in the incident.
The victims included former Minister of State Hawa Mavis Koomson, trader Majeed Mohammed Saana, and New Patriotic Party (NPP) Deputy Organiser Chris Lloyd Nii Kwei. The prosecution stated that the unprovoked attacks occurred at the Methodist Church Polling Station, where the victims were monitoring the proceedings.
While all eight have been convicted, their sentencing has been deferred to Friday, August 29, 2025. The court has granted each of the convicts bail in the amount of GH¢80,000 with one surety.
