Awadey Klenam Cromwell, a standout student from Ghana’s Presbyterian Boys’ Secondary School (PRESEC-Legon), has been awarded the prestigious Academic City Presidential Scholarship to pursue a Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering.
Valued at $40,000, the full scholarship is one of Academic City University’s highest honors, granted annually to approximately ten outstanding students who demonstrate academic excellence, leadership potential, and a commitment to innovation. Cromwell earned his place as a result of his exceptional performance in the Sharks Quiz, where he represented PRESEC with distinction.
The scholarship comprehensively covers tuition, accommodation, meals, a laptop, transportation, and a monthly stipend, eliminating financial burdens so that recipients can fully focus on their academic and leadership development.
Ms. Nelly Agyemang-Gyamfi, Director of Marketing and Communications at Academic City, presented the award and praised Cromwell’s intellectual ability and drive:
“At Academic City, we believe in rewarding excellence and empowering young students who exhibit not only academic brilliance but also a passion for innovation and leadership. Awadey Klenam Cromwell embodies these qualities, and we are proud to support his journey in Mechanical Engineering.”
Cromwell joins a growing list of top talents recognized by the university, following the footsteps of past recipients such as Ezekiel Kpodo of St. Augustine’s College (2023) and David Effah of PRESEC-Legon (2024), who are currently studying Biomedical Engineering and Electrical and Electronic Engineering, respectively.
Reacting to the news, Cromwell expressed gratitude and enthusiasm for the journey ahead:
“I have always had a deep fascination with engineering, particularly in the field of mechanical engineering. I am confident that Academic City will provide the right training and skill set to empower me to build something of my own in the near future.”
With guidance from Academic City’s expert faculty and cutting-edge learning environment, Cromwell is poised to thrive — not just as a student, but as a future mechanical engineering innovator and industry leader.
