According to renowned Italian sports journalist Fabrizio Romano, Real Madrid has decided not to make any new signings during the January transfer window.

Romano revealed that the Spanish giants had considered one potential signing, Liverpool’s Trent Alexander-Arnold, at the end of December 2024. However, Liverpool reportedly rejected the approach, refusing to let their star right-back leave.

Despite the setback, Real Madrid remains keen on signing Alexander-Arnold, with the player reportedly being the club’s top target at right-back. The La Liga side is now expected to wait until the summer transfer window, when Alexander-Arnold’s contract with Liverpool is set to expire, in the hopes of securing his services on a free transfer.

With their January transfer business now closed, Real Madrid will focus on the remainder of the season with their current squad.
