In a significant milestone for Ghana’s democracy, incoming President John Mahama met with outgoing President Nana Akufo-Addo at the Jubilee House in Accra on Wednesday, December 11, 2024. This meeting marked the beginning of a peaceful transition process, with both leaders committed to ensuring a smooth handover.

Mahama, leader of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), won the presidential election on December 7, 2024, with 56.55% of the votes, defeating New Patriotic Party (NPP) candidate and Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia.

 

During the meeting, Mahama and Akufo-Addo discussed the elections and transition process, demonstrating their dedication to a peaceful transfer of power.

Accompanying Mahama were NDC National Chairman Johnson Asiedu Nketia and former Chief of Justice Julius Debrah.
