Police in Ghana have arrested a man named Peter Akakpo aka Dompe, in connection with an investigation into a series of alleged robberies and murders of taxi drivers in the Greater Accra Region.
In a statement signed by its Public Relations Officer, Chief Inspector Brigitte Babanawo, the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) of the Ghana Police Service said the alleged robberies and murders took place in Odorkor, a suburb of Accra.
According to the statement, the Anti-Armed Robbery Unit (AARU) of the CID commenced investigations into the incidents following the death of two taxi drivers at Sakaman Blue Lagoon on 9th May and 15th June 2025, respectively.
The statement indicated that “intelligence-led operations subsequently resulted in the arrest of one suspect, Vincent Gbetorglo on 30th June 2025.”
It said further investigations revealed that Gbetorglo had been in communication with Peter Akakpo whose contact number was linked to both deceased persons.
The statement disclosed that “After weeks of sustained intelligence and surveillance, suspect Peter Akakpo alias Dompe, an ex-convict, was arrested on 13th October 2025 at Kasoa-Domeabra, from a room rented by his accomplice, Vincent Gbetorglo.”
It announced that “efforts are underway to retrieve the vehicles belonging to the deceased drivers.”
