COURT SUMMONS SERVED ON ALHAJI AMADU JULDEH SOWE IN FREETOWN OVER CONTESTED TPI BANJUL ASSEMBLY

Tabital Pulaaku International (TPI) has commenced urgent judicial proceedings before a competent court in Mali to determine the legality of an assembly held in Banjul, The Gambia.

The action is contained in Institutional Declaration No. 0047/PRTPI/SG/2026 issued on 6th October 2026 by the General Secretariat of TPI.

According to the Declaration, the Secretariat filed an emergency application, known as “référé d’heure à heure”, asking the court to examine the circumstances under which the Banjul assembly was convened and the legal consequences arising from it.

The proceedings are grounded in the Statutes of TPI adopted on 10th September 2022 in Abuja, Nigeria, particularly Articles 13, 18 and 50 which govern the convening of the General Assembly and the functioning of the organisation’s organs.

The Secretariat disclosed that two persons directly concerned by the matter before the court have been formally served.

Mr. A. Juldeh Sowe, who resides in Sierra Leone, was served in Freetown by a competent judicial officer in accordance with applicable legal provisions. Mr. Abou Sowe was similarly served in Bamako, Mali.

The organisation emphasised that the court action is not directed at any individual.

“This action constitutes neither a personal campaign nor a communication initiative directed against any individual. It is exclusively an institutional and judicial procedure aimed at having the competent court examine the contested acts in light of the legal and statutory provisions governing the organisation,” the Declaration states.

TPI said the court is now duly seized of the matter and it is for the court to rule on the claims submitted to it.

In the meantime, the Secretariat has appealed to all members, national associations and diaspora chapters to exercise restraint, respect the ongoing judicial process and refrain from any statements or actions that could prejudge the outcome.

It also reaffirmed that, in line with its founding texts, the Executive Bureau headed by His Highness Lamido Muhammad Sanusi II remains the sole body authorised to represent TPI and ensure its regular functioning pending the determination of the court.

The Secretariat reaffirmed its commitment to its statutes, institutional structures and established procedures and to preserving unity and cohesion within the Pulaaku community.

The dispute centres on rival claims over the authority to convene a legitimate General Assembly of TPI, the global umbrella body for Fulbe communities worldwide.
