Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke on Thursday, August 20, 2026 visited President Bola Ahmed Tinubu at the Presidential Villa in Abuja, where he presented his certificate of return and expressed appreciation to the President for what he described as his commitment to a free and fair election in the state.

Speaking to State House correspondents after the meeting, Adeleke said his visit was primarily to thank President Tinubu for his commitment to democracy and the conduct of the election in Osun State.

The governor described Tinubu as the “father of the nation” and acknowledged his contribution to Nigeria’s struggle for democracy.

“Yeah, that is why I’m here to thank Mr. President, the father of the nation, because he fought for this democracy,” Adeleke said.

According to Adeleke, the President’s decision to allow a free and fair election contributed to the outcome recorded in Osun State.

“That is why he allowed free and fair election, and that is the result,” he said.

Adeleke said the visit was also intended to recognise Tinubu’s role in promoting democratic governance and strengthening democracy in Nigeria.

“That is why I’m here, to say thank you to ensure that democracy lives in Nigeria,” the governor said.

The meeting at the Presidential Villa comes as Adeleke formally presented his certificate of return to the President following the election in Osun State.
