The United States has deported a total of 355 West African nationals.

According to the US State Department of Homeland Security (DHS), the deportation of the 355 West Africans was done under its West Africa Operations Watch (WOW) initiative.

DHS says Nigeria accounted for 110 deportees—the highest number among the region’s countries.

Liberia followed with 94 deportees, while Ghana and Senegal have 30 and 19, respectively.

The deportation list also includes citizens from Cameroon, Gambia, Côte d’Ivoire, Mauritania, Cape Verde, Burkina Faso, Niger, Guinea, Togo, Mali, Benin, and Guinea-Bissau.

Although specific charges were not disclosed, the WOW initiative mainly targets individuals convicted of serious crimes such as fraud, money laundering, drug trafficking, and violent offenses.
