Ghana Buries Former First Lady Nana Konadu

Ghana has laid to rest, its late former First Lady, Nana Konadu Agyeman-Rawlings.

A solemn state funeral was organized for Mrs. Rawlings at the Independence Square in Accra on Friday, November 28, 2025.

Thousands of mourners, traditional leaders, government officials and political figures, attended the funeral alongside the Rawlings family to pay their last respects to Nana Konadu.

Among the individuals who attended the funeral were President John Dramani Mahama, ex-Ghanaian Presidents, John Agyekum Kufuor, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo and his wife, Rebecca Akufo-Addo, former Vice President, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia and his wife, Samira Bawumia, Members of Parliament (MPs) from the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC) and main opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP), statesmen, traditional and religious leaders, among others.

Mrs. Rawlings’ children, Dr. Zenator, Kimathi, and Amina, were all in attendance.

The late former First Lady’s family in their tribute described her as a towering figure whose strength, compassion and discipline shaped generations, saying “She carried the family’s honour with dignity.”

Mrs. Rawlings died at the Ridge Hospital in Accra in October 2025.

She was the wife of late former President Jerry John Rawlings.
