Nigerian artist Bred has shared a shocking story about the extraordinary lengths he and Davido went to in the early stages of their careers, including selling 20 of Davido’s father’s television sets to raise money for their music dreams.
The revelation came during a recent Kick livestream with influencer Peller.
Raising $30,000 to Meet Music Legends
Bred explained that the duo needed capital to travel to Nigeria, launch their careers, and meet music industry legends D’Banj and Don Jazzy. Their audacious plan involved liquidating some valuable assets belonging to Davido’s father.
“There was a store back then that buys from people in America; if you wanted to sell any device, they would buy,” Bred explained, detailing how they sold the 20 televisions, successfully raising $30,000.
This bold move allowed them to quickly turn their ambitious plan into a reality, kickstarting the journey that would eventually lead Davido to become one of Afrobeats’ biggest global sensations.
The story highlights the high-stakes risks and fierce determination that defined the early hustling years of the megastars.
