Dani Olmo returned to the Spain squad named Friday after injury forced Barcelona’s young star Lamine Yamal to miss last month’s World Cup qualifiers.
The 18-year-old forward missed Spain’s recent games against Georgia and Bulgaria due to a groin problem. However, after making a full recovery and returning to club duty with FC Barcelona, Yamal is back in the reckoning for Spain’s upcoming matches against Georgia on November 15 in Tbilisi, followed by Turkey in Seville three days later.
Midfielders and Absences
The squad also sees the return of Paris Saint-Germain midfielder Fabian Ruiz, who has recovered from a leg injury suffered during the 2-1 Champions League defeat of Barcelona at the start of October.
While Yamal returns to national duty, Spain coach Luis de la Fuente will be without several key players due to injury:
- Barcelona teammate Pedri.
- Real Madrid captain Dani Carvajal.
- Athletic Bilbao winger Nico Williams.
- Atletico Madrid defender Robin Le Normand.
Spain, the European champions, currently sit top of Group E, with automatic qualification for next year’s World Cup in the United States, Mexico, and Canada firmly in their grasp.
