It was tears of joy for 22 year old Lady Nana Yaa Nyarko, a graduate of the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) when she was announced the winner of this year’s Miss Malaika beauty pageant.
The 2023 edition of Miss Malaika which took place at the Grand Arena of the International Conference Centre (AICC) last night saw Lady Nana Yaa beating nine contestants in a tough competition to win the bragging rights of this year’s pageant.
Enyam Dzandu, a 21 year student of the University of Ghana came second and Fareeda Habib, a 23 year old graduate of KNUST took the third position.
Right from the beginning of the competition, Lady Naa Yaa distinguished herself from other contestants with her presentation and discharge of her roles in the various segments of competition including the talent display and presentations.
However, she cemented her win by answering questions from the judges so well which obviously earned her the highest score on the night.
It was, therefore, not surprising when she was mentioned the winner. For her prize, Lady took home a brand new car, an undisclosed amount of money, an international trip and souvenirs from sponsors.
In an interview with Graphic Showbiz, Lady described her win as a dream come true. “This win is a win come true. It started as a joke when I picked forms and started soliciting for votes when I passed the auditions. I have really come far wining this award and I will never take it for granted”.
The event was laced with performances by Mr Drew, S3fa, Maya Blu, Olivetheboy, Banzy Banero, who entertained the audience.
Organised by Charterhouse, Miss Malaika Ghana is a prestigious beauty pageant that aims to empower young women and celebrate their unique talents and abilities.
Lady Nana Yaa succeeds Zakiya Ahmed who won last year.
