A three-year-old girl has been confirmed dead after being raped and murdered by unidentified assailants in Sabon Gari, Kiyawa Local Government Area of Jigawa State.
The Public Relations Officer of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Jigawa State Command, ASC Badruddeen Tijjani, disclosed this in a statement issued to journalists on Thursday, October 16, 2025.
According to the statement, the victim, identified as Harira Yakubu Bala, was reported missing by her parents on Tuesday, October 14, 2025. Her body was later discovered in a nearby bush on Wednesday, bearing multiple injuries.
Following the report, NSCDC officers were immediately deployed to the scene, where they secured the area and transported the body to a hospital for medical examination and investigation.
Medical findings confirmed that the child had been sexually assaulted and killed by unknown persons.
The State Commandant, CC Muhammad Kabiru Ingawa, has ordered the Intelligence and Investigation Department to work with the Kiyawa Divisional Office and other security agencies to track down and apprehend those responsible for the crime.
The NSCDC spokesperson added that the victim’s remains had been released to her family for burial in accordance with Islamic rites.
While condemning the heinous act, the Command reiterated its commitment to safeguarding lives and property, particularly the safety of children and other vulnerable groups.
The NSCDC also urged residents to remain calm, stay alert, and report any suspicious persons or activities to the nearest security agency.
