Nigerian Police Arrest Man For Allegedly Killing Relative Over Land

Police in Nigeria have arrested a man who allegedly killed his relative in Anambra State during a land dispute.

The suspect, 45-year-old man, Okwuchukwu Ezimuo, allegedly killed his relative in Umunocha village, Awka-Etiti, Idemili South Local Government Area of the state.

According to the
spokesperson of the command, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, in a statement on Wednesday, September 24, 2025, the suspect was arrested by operatives attached to the Nnobi Police Divisional Headquarters.

The statement indicated that “Preliminary information reveals that in the evening of 22nd September, 2025 the deceased, one Joseph Dike, male, aged 65 years, collapsed after being struck on the chest by the suspect during a quarrel in Umunocha Village, Awka-Etiti.”

It said “Following the incident, the victim was immediately rushed to the hospital where he was confirmed d3ad by a medical doctor on duty. The scene of the crime was visited and relevant evidence, including photographs was taken.”

“The Commissioner of Police, Anambra State Command, CP Ikioye Orutugu fwc MNIPS PhD, urged residents to seek peaceful resolution to disputes and avoid violence at all times.”

“He further directed that the Case be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID), Awka, for discreet investigation to unravel the full circumstances surrounding the incident.”
