Dangote Refinery and Petrochemicals has started its free fuel distribution to filling stations across Nigeria.
Management of the company made the announcement, saying the free distribution is starting with Lagos and the South-West, Abuja, Kwara, Delta, Rivers, and Edo States.
The distribution took off on Monday, September 15, 2025.
This follows an announcement of a drop in the retail price of petrol to N841 per litre.
Spokesperson of the Dangote Group, Anthony Chiejina, had earlier told the media the distribution will ease the plight of millions of Nigerians by providing fuel at reduced prices.
According to him, “We are starting the free fuel distribution scheme on Monday. We will start with Lagos and South West, Abuja, Kwara, Delta, Rivers, and Edo States. There will be a drop in price effective on Monday when the free distribution starts.”
The 650,000-bpd Dangote Refinery and Petrochemicals has received more than 1,000 trucks to start the free distribution of fuel. Additional States are expected to benefit from the distribution.
