A 22-year-old man, Tyler Robbinson, has been arrested for allegedly killing Charlie Kirk of Turning Point USA, an ally of American President, Donald Trump.
According to multiple US media reports citing law enforcement officials, Robbinson was arrested on September 11, 2025 following a tip from a family member who said “Robbinson confessed.”
Utah Governor, Spencer Cox, told journalists that “We got him on the evening of September 11.”
Videos released by FBI and local enforcement officials showed Robbinson arriving at Utah Valley University in a gray Dodge Challeger shortly before the shooting.
According to surveillance, he arrived at the University around 8:29 a.m. in a gray Dodge Challenger, wearing Maroon T-shirt, light shorts, black hat, and light shoes.
A report by Fox News sighted by Africa Publicity says “a matching vehicle was found at his home.”
Reports say Robbinson lived in Washington County and became more political in recent years per family claims.
According to reports, the suspected assassin attended Utah State University for one semester in 2021, doing a pre-engineering major.
Citing possible motive, authorities said before the shooting, Robbinson’s family recalled a dinner conversation.
During the conversation, Robbinson reportedly said “Charlie Kirk is coming to UVU”, moving to discuss disagreement with Kirk’s views.
An influential ally of President Donald Trump and a Conservative activist, Kirk, died after being shot in the neck.
Kirk was shot on Wednesday, September 10, 2025, while he was hosting an event at Utah Valley University in Orem, just north of Provo. He was taken to hospital and President Trump, Vice President, JD Vance and several others offered prayers for his recovery but he sadly died later.
Kirk’s death was confirmed by President Trump in a post on his Truth Social. The President described Kirk as “a truly Great American Patriot”, and ordered “all American Flags throughout the United States lowered to Half Mast until Sunday evening at 6 P.M.”
