The Ambassador of Palestine to Zambia, Dr. Walid Hassan, has bid President Hakainde Hichilema, and Zambians farewell following the successful completion of his tour of duty in Zambia.
Dr. Hassan, who doubles as the Dean of the Diplomatic Corps in Zambia, visited President Hichilema at the Presidency on Wednesday, August 6, 2025, to say goodbye.
President Hichilema shared photos of the meeting on his official Facebook page, saying: “Zambia and the State of Palestine enjoy a long-standing relationship rooted in shared values and solidarity, a bond initiated by our founding leaders, Dr. Kenneth Kaunda and Chairman Yasser Arafat.”
He said: “We are deeply saddened by the ongoing conflict in Gaza, which has resulted in the tragic loss of lives on both the Israeli and Palestinian sides. We call for an immediate end to hostilities, and reaffirm our conviction that instability anywhere is instability everywhere. In this spirit, we urge all parties to pursue dialogue as the only path to a just and lasting peace.”
“We extend our sincere appreciation and best wishes to His Excellency Dr. Walid Hassan as he embarks on the next chapter of his distinguished diplomatic career.”
