Wilson’s innovative productions, encompassing both original works and traditional repertoire, gained widespread acclaim globally, with a particularly strong following in France, where he described finding a “home” in 2021. His groundbreaking opera Einstein on the Beach, created with Philip Glass in 1976, propelled him to international prominence, breaking conventional operatic norms with its non-linear narrative and abstract exploration of Einstein’s life.
