Snoop Dogg Becomes Co-Owner of Swansea City Alongside Luka Modric

Swansea City, an English Championship club, announced on Thursday, July 17, 2025, that American rap legend Snoop Dogg has joined as a co-owner, partnering with former Real Madrid star and Croatia World Cup finalist Luka Modric in the club’s ownership group. Last week, Snoop Dogg made a surprise appearance on the club’s social media, showcasing their 2025-26 season home jersey, before confirming his investment.

The 53-year-old rapper, whose real name is Calvin Broadus, expressed his excitement on the club’s website: “My love of football is well known, but it feels special to me that I make my move into club ownership with Swansea City. The story of the club and the area really struck a chord with me. This is a proud, working-class city and club. An underdog that bites back, just like me. I’m proud to be part of Swansea City.”

Swansea’s owners highlighted the potential of Snoop’s involvement, stating, “Snoop’s colossal global fanbase and audience will certainly help us boost the club’s reach and profile.” They referenced his back catalogue, calling the move “the next episode for Swansea City” as they aim to enhance the club’s visibility and return to the Premier League, where they last competed before relegation in 2018.

The announcement follows Swansea’s acquisition by American businessmen Brett Cravatt and Jason Cohen in November 2024, with Modric joining the ownership in April 2025. The club draws inspiration from Welsh rivals Wrexham, who rose to the Championship under Hollywood stars Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney. Swansea’s leadership noted Snoop’s passion for football, expecting his involvement to support building a competitive team under British football’s profit and sustainability rules.

Modric, who recently signed with AC Milan, also acquired a stake in the club, and the owners emphasized that Snoop’s investment will aid in generating revenue for player acquisitions, strengthening their push for promotion.
