Chinese Electric Vehicle Giant GAC Group Expresses Interest in establishing EV Plant In Ghana

GAG Group, one of China’s leading electric vehicle manufacturers, has expressed strong interest in establishing a manufacturing plant in Ghana.

This was made known by Ghana’s Minister for Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration, Samuel Okuzeto Ablakwa.

According to him, Ghana’s intensified economic diplomacy drive is beginning to yield significant results, particularly in the area of industrial partnerships.

GAC a leading electric vehicle manufacturer has agreed to give favorable consideration to Ghana for the establishment of an EV manufacturing plant,” Ablakwa revealed.

The Foreign Affairs Minister said, China which hosts seven of the world’s top ten EV brands, is widely acknowledged to be at least a decade ahead of global competitors in EV technology.

“Ghana is poised to forge strategic partnerships that leverage our lithium discovery and economic recovery efforts for transformation and massive job creation,” the minister added.

He expressed gratitude to the board and management of GAC for their warm hospitality during a visit to the company’s Panyu Headquarters, describing the engagement as a major step forward in Ghana’s industrialization drive.

Mr Ablakwa affirmed that Ghana’s renewed focus on economic diplomacy aims to ensure that the country’s international engagements directly benefit its people through investment, innovation, and employment opportunities.
