President John Mahama has extended an invitation to Chinese investors to explore business opportunities in Ghana, emphasizing the country’s openness to investment. Speaking at the Chinese Lantern Festival Celebration at the University of Ghana Sports Stadium, Mahama acknowledged the significant role Chinese businesses have played in Ghana’s economy, particularly in areas such as construction, manufacturing, agriculture, mining, and trade .
Mahama noted that Ghanaian businesses continue to explore opportunities in China, strengthening the economic ties between the two nations. He reiterated his commitment to revitalizing Ghana’s economic landscape, assuring investors of a conducive business environment that fosters growth and shared prosperity .
The president’s invitation comes at a time when Ghana is seeking to attract foreign direct investment to boost economic recovery, create jobs, and improve infrastructure. Mahama’s message was clear: “Ghana is open for business again, and I invite our comrades in the Chinese investor community to look at the opportunities Ghana has to offer. Let’s create a win-win situation for our two people”
This development is likely to strengthen the diplomatic and economic relations between Ghana and China, which have been longstanding. Chinese President Xi Jinping had earlier congratulated Mahama on his election as president of Ghana, noting that Ghana is an important strategic partner of China in Africa .
