Nigerian Afropop and Afrobeats superstar, Burna Boy continues to make history.
The ‘Last Last’ hitmaker has become the first artiste to reach one billion streams on music streaming platform, Boomplay.
“Blazing a trail to the Platinum Club! Burna Boy makes history as the first artist to reach 1 billion streams on Boomplay. He told us he was special!,” Boomplay announced.
The announcement comes on the back of the successful release of his new studio album titled, ‘I Told Them’.
Burna Boy, real name Damini Ebunoluwa Ogulu, is one of Nigeria’s most successful musicians of all time.
The Grammy Award-winning singer rose to stardom in 2012 after releasing “Like to Party”, the lead single from his debut studio album L.I.F.E (2013).
In 2017, he signed with Bad Habit/Atlantic Records in the United States and Warner Music Group internationally.
Burna Boy’s third studio album Outside (2018) marked his major-label debut.
