Senegal Receives 27 Billion CFA Francs Grant From China During Xi Jinping and Faye Meeting
West African nation, Senegal, has received a grant of 27 billion CFA francs from China.
The grant was given to Senegal during a meeting between Chinese President, Xi Jinping and President Bassirou Diomaye Faye which took place on Wednesday, September 4, 2024 at the Great Hall of the People in China.
President Faye and his wife were received by President Xi Jinping who hailed the strong ties between China and Senegal, describing Senegal as a friendly and strategic partner of China.
During the meeting, the two Presidents discussed enhancing cooperation in various sectors such as energy, water, industrialization, digital, technologies and agriculture.
A number of partnership agreements were signed, including memoranda of understanding in economy, Information Communication Technology (ICT), green development, as well as press and media cooperation.
In brief remarks, President Faye expressed appreciation for the warm reception and progress in China-Senegal relationship.
The Senegalese announced plans for a one-stop shop to streamline Chinese investment in Senegal.
