Head Pastor of The Maker’s House Chapel, Dr. Michael Boadi Nyamekye has deflated the widely held sermonic admonition to Christians to compulsorily pay tithe.
Tithe has over the years been a topical issue within the Christian fraternity with questions on whether or not it is obligatory for a Christian to tithe.
With some preachers telling their congregants that not paying tithe will send them to hell, others also quote Malachi 3:10 to say those not tithing are robbing God, hence they shall not prosper in life.
Dr. Michael Boadi Nyamekye, who is on media tour to publicize the church’s super-powered conference dubbed “Experience” which comes off from October 6th to 13th, in an interview with Bola Ray on Starr Chat was asked if tithing is compulsory.
He responded; “Compulsory is asking that they are under obligation. No!…In New Testament theology, in the Pauline epistles, he is saying that God loves a cheerful giver. It means that giving in itself shouldn’t be obligatory; it should be revelatory.”
“It is not because if I don’t give it, I’m going to hell but I love God enough that I will give to God. I love God enough, I love His work that I will commit to the work of God. I will push the work of God not because if I don’t give, I’m going to go to hell”, he stressed.
