US actor Chadwick Boseman will be honored with a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame five years after his death. The ceremony, which recognizes his profound contributions to film, will be held on Hollywood Boulevard in Los Angeles on November 20.
The Black Panther star tragically died in August 2020 at the age of 43, four years after he was privately diagnosed with colon cancer.
Honoring a Legacy
Boseman is best remembered for his iconic lead role as T’Challa, king of the technologically advanced African nation Wakanda, in the 2018 Marvel blockbuster Black Panther.
His widow, Simone Boseman, is expected to accept the honor on his behalf during the ceremony, according to reports. The event is set to feature tributes from key figures in his career:
- Black Panther director Ryan Coogler.
- Viola Davis, his co-star from his final film, Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom.
Chadwick’s death came as a huge shock to fans and the industry, as the actor had never spoken about his cancer diagnosis publicly, continuing to work even while undergoing treatment. His legacy is celebrated for his grace, talent, and monumental cultural impact.
